Ibn Hayyan, also known as Abu-Musa Jabir ibn Hayyan or Geber, was a polymath of Persian origin who lived during the Islamic Golden Age. He was born in 721 CE in Tus, located in present-day Iran, and died around 815 CE.

His influence on European alchemy can be seen in the Latinized versions of his name, "Geber" and "Geberus," which became synonymous with alchemy in the Western world.
